Those of you who have visited here before know that a considerable part of this blog has been dedicated to my progress towards a psychology degree with the Open University, which I finally obtained at the end of last year. Studying with the OU was a great experience and anyone who is considering taking a psychology degree would do well to look at what they offer.

However, recent research(*) shows that 71 per cent of people considering access to Higher Education in England are either unsure or feel they don’t have enough information about the study funding options available to them.

This is a video from the Open University outlining five different ways how new students in England can pay for their studies.

More information in text form is available here.

You may also wish to consider signing this petition if like me you’re concerned that even with the OU’s focus on attracting new students, they’re going to struggle to compete in the new HE landscape.

(*) Research commissioned by The Open University in April 2012 showed that 71 per cent of people interested in entering Higher Education in England were either unsure or felt they didn’t have enough information around the funding options available to them. The research was undertaken by DJS Research on behalf of The Open University. Sample: 1,590 respondents who were interested in studying at university in the next five years.
